ASC pens a major EPC contract with EMAL on 9th February, 2014 Ali & Sons Contracting (ASC) a subsidiary of Ali & Sons Co. LLC recently signed a major EPC contract with Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) at EMAL’s Administration Offices - Al Taweelah - Abu Dhabi.

Mr. Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, EMAL’s President & CEO and Mr. Shamis Al Dhaheri, Managing Director of Ali & Sons Group signed the contract. The project shall be complete in 20 months.

The scope of work includes the main building for approximately 530 administrative staff, a 2,400 m2 facility comprising of an auditorium for 300 people with exhibition space and a reception block catering for approximately 100 visitors. There will also be a cafeteria that shall accommodate approximately 300 individuals; a commercial area that shall house a larger unit for a supermarket and 7 smaller retail outlets; and a mosque to accommodate 250 males and 50 females.

There will be clinics‚ security rooms‚ training facilities‚ classrooms and a recreational block with a football field and basketball courts. The whole project shall be cooled with a district cooling plant. ASC shall also design and construct the associated infrastructure including car parks, fit-outs and landscaping.

"EMAL is very excited about this project as the new administration complex will be environment-friendly in both construction and operations. For example, recyclable materials such as aluminium cladding, concrete and steel will be used for the buildings; and 95 per cent of the painting and coating materials will be low violet organic component. By installing environment-friendly, energy-efficient air-conditioning systems, fixtures and lighting, we aim to achieve a 20 per cent reduction in energy consumption. The landscaping will incorporate only native and adaptive plant species, which do not require a lot of irrigation; and the complex will be self-sufficient in waste management. The sewage treatment facility and water drainage system will be integrated, leading to minimised water consumption levels. These ’green’ features not only reflect our commitment to sustainability but will also achieve a Pearl 2 rating in the Estidama Abu Dhabi Pearl Building Rating System, which encourages water, energy and waste minimization, local material use and improved supply chains for sustainable and recyclable materials and products." said Mr Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei.
